MY LIFE'S VOCATION

                                   MY LIFE'S VOCATION

                                          1927 - 2012

I am choosing the Ministry as my life's vocation because I feel that God has definitely called me as one of His servants.   I was saved at the age of fourteen under the influence of Charles E. Fuller's "Old Fashioned Revival Hour".   I felt the call to the ministry about six months later.    My call was not under the influence of any person, as a matter of fact, I was discouraged.   I felt that God wanted me to serve Him, and I have had this same desire for the past seven years.  Just recently I have felt that God wants me to serve Him as a foreign missionary, perhaps as a professor in a Theological Seminary or Bible School.
I believe that God's servants should have the highest preparation that he can attain.  I think that it is better to spend seven or eight years preparing ourselves for His service and be ready to do anything that the Master would have us to do, than to spend just a few years preparing and be handicapped in giving our best for His service.  It is my plan to work for at least a Master's degree in Theology and perhaps a Doctorate of Theology.    I do not want to give the Master anything short of my best.
The ministry has many advantages as well as many disadvantages.   The greatest advantage, of course, is the wonderful satisfaction that one has in serving God and his fellow man.   Another advantage is the great love and friendships that he forms with others.    The disadvantages of a missionary is low pay, unfavorable working conditions, unsanitary conditions, the separation from our friends and loved ones, and many others.  Although the disadvantages outweigh the advantages of a foreign missionary, I know that the service I will be doing for them as well as God will be well with the efforts.   I'm turning my life over completely to God, and I know that He will use me to carry out His purpose.
