WHILE TIME MARCHES ON, I KEEP CLIMBING

I KEEP CLIMBING

While Time marches on,   I keep climbing.    Here I am heading on into my 80th decade, with a new pair of glasses [ newer than the ones I have in this photo] and I am indeed blessed beyond measure, because I am now situated by the Pacific Ocean at Drayton Harbor, in Blaine WA.
Look for my blog if you like to think about what it means to be a Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and if you are excited about His Soon Coming.    There is lots to live for, and much to think about.

My verse for today is   Philippians 3 verses 7 - 14
What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Jesus Christ.
Yea, doubtless, and I count all things but dung, that I may win Christ.   And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His Resurrection, and the Fellowship of His Sufferings, being made conformable unto His death, if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.   Not as though I had attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after, that I may apprehend [grasp hold of] that for which I am also apprehended [grasped] of Jesus Christ.   Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those thing which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

WITH THE SUNSET HERE IN BLAINE WA
I LEAVE YOU WITH THE THOUGHT
JESUS IS COMING SOON
IT MAY BE IN THE NIGHT TIME
IT MAY BE IN THE MORNING
BUT
IT IS A SURE AND CERTAIN THING
HE IS COMING AGAIN
AND
THE TIME IS ALMOST HERE !

ARE YOU READY ?
I AM LOOKING FOR HIM!

CLIMBING, EVER CLIMBING EVER HIGHER

CLIMBING
CLIMBING
EVER

I KEEP ON
CLIMBING.

Time out for resting between the moves up the mountains,
I know there is a need to take in more air, more oxygen, in order to combat the deprivation I get when I begin climbing higher.

Surefootedness comes from looking where I step.
Surefootedness comes from being alert.
This is me at three !   I remember being there with Grandmother.   I remember how she loved to work in her garden.   She never lost her temper at me.   Her patience in working things out so that I was given "things to do" paid off.  I do remember her praising me for things I did.
Now, is this what I do today?   In a sense.   In a sense I am listening now for God's dear Spirit to speak and to let me have His Peace in those matters He leads me.    I am now 81 years of age, and still in need of my Heavenly Father to keep me, to guide me, and to help me be surefooted and persistent in the Path He leads me on.   As I enter this new year of 2015 I thank the dear Lord Jesus Christ for coming from the Father's throne to come and live here among us, and to give His life for us.    How thankful I can be.

Here are four cousins of mine.  How time flies by !
With the formative years all past, how can I best use my time and take some joy in family, friends, church and finding ways to use what I do for the Lord.
I remember how Auntie Al certainly loved her children, and made much sacrifice for them.   How I need to follow her example by cherishing my children, and continuing to encourage and advise the adult children.    I need to listen to the Only One who is able to keep them - God Himself.
      God bless you.

CLIMBING

MY BELIEFS ABOUT GOD

MY BELIEFS ABOUT GOD

by William Henry Cash, Jr 1949
1927 - 2012

1.    I believe that there is only one true God.
2.   I believe in the Trinity, that God is revealed in three
personalities; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but there
is only One God.
3.  I believe that all three personalities of the Trinity are
equal in power, but that each has a specific task to perform.
4.  I think of the Father as the Creator, The Son as the Savior,
and the Holy Spirit as the Comforter.
5.  I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was in the beginning with God the Father.
6.  I believe that the Lord Jesus was incarnated in the form of
man 1900 [in 1949] years ago to save man from their sins.
7.  I believe that when Jesus was on this earth that he was both God and Man.
8.  I believe that Jesus had temptations and was conscious of all physical surroundings, the same as any other man.
9.  I believe in all the miracles that Jesus performed on this earth.
10.  I believe that Jesus went to the cruel cross to pay the price
for our sins.
11.  I believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead, and that
He is preparing a place for those who love Him.
12.  I believe that this same Jesus will come again in like manner.
13.  I believe that only those who trust Jesus as their personal
Savior will ever see the kingdom of God.
14.  I believe that the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God.
15.  I believe in the eternal security of those who have made a true decision to follow Christ as their Savior.

FINANCES - LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW

FINANCES

LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW
by Wm. H. Cash, Jr. 1949
1927 - 2012

June's opening comment:
Knowing that young people today from
ages 18 - 35 have difficulties in finances, I
include this section Henry wrote in his paper
Living Today and Tomorrow
Finances

The progress many students make in college is affected
in some way or other
by the problem of finances.

---

There are two types of college loans
Short Term, and Long Term.

It is unwise for college students
to depend upon loans for
all his college education.

The part-time employer should be fair
to the student as as the student being
fair to the employer.

It is an established fact that in vocational
guidance, that occupational interest persists
throughout life.
                           Since most social workers are
women, men have many opportunities for
advancement to executive positions.
[Somewhat outdate - but at the time, true]

Health services are the most needed in our nation.

The ministry on the whole is a very low paid profession, how there is considerable stratification, similar to teaching.

More than one third of workers in the U S A
                            are unskilled.

                         [This statistic may be outdated.]

Young people should never be blindly
guided by their parents in choosing a
vocation.

One danger many young people have
is that of drifting, with nothing in view
that he / she is preparing for.

The college student should major in the subject that
will help him in his future vocation.

HENRY'S THOUGHTS

One should depend on God for his needs.
We must not become lazy, for God has given us our physical
structure, our abilities, and our talents
to be used for His glory.

A young person should get
the highest preparation before he can
expect to have the highest opportunities
for advancement.

LEISURE - LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW

LEISURE - LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW
by Wm. H. Cash, Jr. 1949
1927 - 2002

All American communities have a highly developed social life.

Social life is important to everyone, but too many
activities are as harmful as not enough.

We must determine what type of clubs or groups will
give us the most satisfaction and confine our interest
                to them.

Recreation is a common element in community life.

Movies [Videos] can be a very force for good or evil, only
desultory attempts are made at regulation or supervision.

We must guard against such places of
entertainment, as pool halls, cocktail bars,
parties which have no rules they lead
                                         to difficulties.

                             Henry's Own Thoughts on Leisure

Churches should provide the right type
of recreation for the children and young people.

If we are busy for the Lord, we will not have
time to do things that are questionable.

We should choose the type of recreation
that helps us both in body and mind.

Reading good books and magazines
is a good way to spending one's leisure.

One should spend part of his leisure time
just resting and relaxing.

WHEN HENRY WAS WITH US, HE OFTEN
WAS FOND OF REPEATING
THAT
FIRST COMES YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO GO
THEN YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO YOUR FAMILY
YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO THE CHURCH

WHEN CONSIDERING ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE
IT IS IMPORTANT TO PLAN TIME FOR THE FAMILY
TO BE TOGETHER.  A PERSON NEEDS TO
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET SO BUSY YOU
DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR YOUR FAMILY
MEMBERS

THE IDEAL MINISTER'S WIFE

THE IDEAL MINISTER'S WIFE
(CHRISTIAN WORKER'S WIFE)
by   Wm. Henry Cash, Jr  1949
1927 - 2012

Considering the vitally essential characteristics of a minister's wife, let us first quote a verse of scripture from II Corinthians
6.4 "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?    From this scripture we may conclude that the first and most important characteristic of a Minister's wife is that she should be a Christian.   I have always made the statement that if I were ever to marry, I should like for my wife to be at least as good a Christian as I, if not better.
The second characteristic is that she should be consecrated.
She should be willing to follow directly in the footsteps of Jesus.   With her husband, she should be willing to endure hardship and self-denial.   In Luke 9.23, Jesus said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me."  She would have to be willing to give up the pleasures of the world for the cause of Christ.   She would have to forget about the riches of the world, and consecrate her life on the spiritual riches of God.
The third characteristic is that she should be willing to work with her husband.  It is very difficult for a man of God to carry on the work of the Lord if his wife doesn't cooperate with him.   The ideal minister's wife should be one who is willing to hold her husband up; suffer his griefs and sorrows with him; follow him wherever the Lord may lead him, and pray for him continually.  She should be a help-mate and willing to assist her husband in his work.
Another characteristic, is that she should have some training in the field of Christian Education.   She should have a good knowledge of the Word of God, and preferably some training in music, education, church work, etc.    It would be a great asset to her husband if she had a college education.   She should be qualified to take over any church office, or any type of church work.

One of the most important characteristics of a minister's wife is love.   She should have the love of God in her heart.   She should have a great love for lost souls and should have the desire to win them to Christ.    She should have a love for the church; for all it stands for, and seeks to do.
Another characteristic that a minister's wife should have, is the ability to meet people.   I think that she should be especially able to lead children.   If she has any children of her own, she should be able to train them according to the Word of God.   The greatest Christian educational institution in the world is the HOME.   She should be able to set the example before the other members, and lead them in the correct functions of a home.
There are many other characteristics that we could name, but this is just to give you a glimpse of some of the essential characteristics of an ideal wife.    If it is God's will, for me to marry, I pray that God will give me a wife to meet these characteristics.

Written in 1949, in Henry's freshman year at
Linda Vista Baptist Bible College and Seminary,
[Now known as the El Cajon branch of the So.
California Bible College and Seminary]  I was
just starting my freshman year in High School.
Henry asked his professor at the end of this paper,
"Do you know of any prospects?"
The professor wrote on the paper - "Sorry, but
                         I don't.   Proverbs 31.10   But keep looking.
He was 32, going on 33 when he married me, and
I was 26, going on 27.   Our marriage lasted from
1960 to 2012 when he went to be with the Lord.

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE - LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE -
LIVING TODAY AND TOMORROW
by Wm. Henry Cash, Jr  1949
1927 - 2012

"To marry in haste" means "to repent at Leisure."

No marriage can reach its highest potentialities if the sex element
is ignored.

If both young people are not willing to overlook the other's weakness while trying to correct his own,
his marriage will fail.

There should not be any serious religious
differences between the two young people.

---

Two people who are emotionally
unstable should not marry.

All engaged couples should very
carefully consider the aspects of marriage
before they take a step that they
may later regret.

If it is impossible to agree on matters
before marriage, it will be more difficult afterwards.

Marriage is probably the most important,
as well as the most DIFFICULT career
that anyone can possibly follow but the
establishment of a happy and successful
home is within anyone's reach.
People who are emotionally
unstable need to take care to
prepare themselves
BEFORE
MARRIAGE
to learn discipline,
or they face the possibility
of wrecking their
future home life.

Whatever the situation may be, it should be
discussed frankly and honestly, and all problems
agreed upon before marriage.

The number of children and when
the family is to begin are matters
to be settled before marriage.

Henry Cash's Thoughts On Marriage
A true home is the greatest educational
institution in the world.
It is wise that both young people belong to
the same denomination before marrying.
Parents and relatives of newly-weds should
not interfere with the affairs of the new home.
Newly-weds should accept the advice
of those who have had years of
experience, but not accept their word
as final until after much consideration.
