IN THE BEGINNING

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1.1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same [this same one] was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.  John 1.1 - 4

And the Word was made flesh and lived among us [and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father] full of grace and truth.  John 1.14

The Lord thy God will raise up a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me [Moses is writing this] unto Him shall you hearken; according to all that you desired of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.  And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.  I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.  Deuteronomy 18.15 - 19

God who at sundry times and in diverse manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets has in these last days spoken to us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high...  Hebrews 1.1 - 4

As Jesus passed from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me, and he arose, and followed him.   Matthew 9.9  

Now as he walked by the sea of Galilea, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen.  And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you fishers of men.  Mark 1.16,17

And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?  They answering said, John the Baptist, but some say, Elias, and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.  He said to them, But whom say ye that I am?  Peter answering said, The Christ [Messiah - Anointed One] of God. And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no one that thing; saying, the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.  And he said to them all, If any one will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake the same shall find it."  Luke 9. 18 - 24

As we approach the year 2014 I challenge you reading this blog to consider this man JESUS who claimed to be the one to follow.  I challenge you to search your heart as to WHOM YOU THINK JESUS IS.      He claimed of Himself such things that either He was a crazy man, demented and in delirium, or, he was a liar and pretending to things not so, or that He was telling the TRUTH about Himself.

Moses claimed that a Prophet would come to whom the people of Israel were to listen and to hearken to.    Jesus' name means JEHOVAH MY SALVATION, or, JEHOVAH MY DELIVERER.

As I climb higher this year with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ leading me on to higher ground, I encourage you to consider Him as the One, the Only One who can truly deliver from sin, self, delusions, worry, strife, hurts, sorrows, fears, temptations and from despair.    May the Lord help you in your life to trust Him fully.
